đ THE ROLE
As we build Midnite in Ontario, we need someone to protect our players and our business from fraud. Youâll lead day-to-day fraud prevention for our Ontario casino: spotting suspicious activity, investigating complex cases, and strengthening the controls that keep accounts and payments secure.
Youâll get hands-on with player activity, payment data and fraud tools, while helping shape how our fraud operation grows. Your challenge is to catch genuine threats quickly while keeping registration, deposits and withdrawals straightforward for legitimate players.
Youâll work closely with Payments, AML, Responsible Gambling, Customer Operations and Product to connect the signals, make sound decisions and close gaps before they become bigger problems.
YOU WILL:
- Own and evolve our fraud prevention framework for Ontario, including policies, investigation procedures, escalation routes and controls.
- Monitor activity across registration, account access, deposits, gameplay and withdrawals, using identity, device, payment and behavioural signals to identify potential fraud.
- Lead investigations into account takeover, identity theft, stolen payment methods, linked accounts, collusion and organised fraud.
- Investigate suspected bonus and promotional abuse, distinguishing breaches of promotional terms from fraud and taking proportionate action.
- Set and refine fraud rules, alerts and review thresholds with Data, Product and external providers, improving detection while reducing unnecessary checks for legitimate players.
- Oversee escalated identity and payment verification reviews, working with AML and Payments to resolve discrepancies and identify third-party funding or other suspicious activity.
- Own the fraud review process for withdrawals, making sure decisions are timely, evidence-based and consistent with applicable rules and player terms.
- Lead chargeback investigations and dispute responses, improving the quality of supporting evidence and addressing the causes of preventable losses.
- Maintain clear case records and decision trails, escalating suspected money laundering to the AML Lead and indicators of gambling harm to the Responsible Gambling Lead.
- Work with Product, Engineering and payment providers to strengthen account security, payment controls and fraud tooling, including testing changes before and after release.
- Review new promotions, payment methods and product features for fraud exposure, building practical safeguards into launch plans.
- Coach colleagues on fraud indicators and investigation quality, and turn fraud data into clear reporting on losses, chargebacks, detection performance, review times and player impact.
- Support audits, regulatory enquiries and incident responses with Compliance and Legal, and see corrective actions through to completion.
THE NEXT MIDNITER:
- 3+ years in fraud prevention, investigations or risk operations, ideally within online gambling, payments or fintech.
- Owned complex cases and led people, processes or projects that improved fraud outcomes.
- Understand how fraud develops across the player journey, from stolen identities and compromised accounts to payment fraud and coordinated abuse.
- Comfortable connecting information across accounts, devices, transactions and gameplay to build a clear picture of what happened.
- Youâve worked hands-on with fraud detection, identity verification, case management and payment tools. You understand chargebacks and dispute processes, and you can use data to assess whether a control is working or simply creating more friction.
- You bring sharp investigative judgement and write clearly and concisely. You know when to act, when to gather more evidence and when to involve AML, Responsible Gambling or Compliance.
- Most of all, youâre practical. You can make difficult decisions under pressure, explain your reasoning and build controls that protect players and the business as we grow.
BONUS POINTS IF YOU HAVE:
- Experience in Ontarioâs regulated iGaming market.
- Experience building or scaling a fraud operation.
- Strong SQL, Excel or BI skills.
- Experience with device intelligence, account linking, payment authentication or fraud rule testing.
- CFE or an equivalent fraud prevention or investigation qualification.
